Entrepreneurship Project Instruction

Thirteen groups, consisting of 5 members in each group, are given an instruction that are as follows:

Assume your team has been chosen by Parkson Holdings Berhad, a renowned foreign brand focusing on fashion and lifestyle that engages in the operations of the Parkson brand department stores, to create a new ‘green’ business. This is part of the company’s plan to expand the company’s market share by penetrating into the Middle East market. The Board of Directors is interested to know your business. In the meantime, they are totally unfamiliar with the business environment in the Middle East. Hence, the team needs to write a business plan to convince the Board that the venture is both feasible and profitable.

During the presentation, the teams need to present on the following:

1. A brief description of the range of new products you wish to manufacture and market in the chosen Middle East country.

2. Underline the S.W.O.T. analysis for your proposal.

3. Explain how the firm can obtain a competitive advantage amongst its competitors by leveraging on its core competencies to fulfill its proposed plans.

4. An appropriate method on how firm proposes to enter the Middle East market.

5. A detail description of the firm’s marketing plans for its new products in the Middle East market.

6. How the firm will finance this business venture.

MGT 338 Employability and Entrepreneurship Group Project

The business plan concerning green business ideas comes about when the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak unveiled the New Economic Model early this year that encourages companies to practice corporate social responsibility for the betterment of the environment and community. See link: http://www.btimes.com.my/articles/20100706173705/Article/

The business plan is part of the coursework for MGT338 Employability and Entrepreneurship Module for Level 2 students i.e. to enhance their soft skills that are essential for employability and secondly, to hone their innovativeness and creativeness for being entrepreneurial.

Hence, 13 teams (consisting of 5 members for each team) will set out with their thinking caps and teamwork skills to showcase their green business idea during the public presentation at the end of July 2010.
